Yet again Apple has turned out a revolutionary device. First it was iPod then iPod Video and now a gadget that combines them all and more – iPhone.

Although the iPhone is not signature white like Apple’s iPods, its outlook is sleek and professional - black with silver trimmings. The back is silver featuring the Apple logo. The phone looks very slim, but might be a little too wide for some. However, Apple has really packed a punch in the iPhone so the wideness is absolutely worth it.

iPhone’s saves your battery life

After reading the specifics of the iPhone I was most impressed with its power saving functions. Saving power was definitely one of the major considerations of the iPhone designers, with advanced sensors incorporated into the iPhone’s design. An accelerometer changes the display as and when the device is rotated. Landscape Images are automatically rotated from portrait to landscape according to aspect ratio.

A proximity sensor detects when users place the iPhone at their ear and shuts off the display and lights etc to save power. Lights will only come on again when the device is removed from the user’s ear. Also an ambient light sensor will adjust the screen’s brightness according to the current surrounding light.

iPhone makes calling easier and easier

Needless to say, iPhone’s mobile phone functions are a cut above the rest. Users can make calls by pointing at a name or number. You can also sync all your contacts from your computer or messenger provider. Besides that, contacts that you most frequently call will be saved into a favourites list.

Better still, iPhone features Visual Voicemail, in which you can browse through a listing of your voice messages and choose which ones to listen to. You can even delete some without having to hear them.

The best part would be the SMS application which comprises an on-screen QWERTY keyboard to type and send SMS-es. This keyboard is so easy to use with just the touch of your finger, and its in-built dictionary corrects mistakes automatically.

Last but not least, the 2 mega pixel camera, with a software that surpasses all the other mobile phones viewing galleries. All files can be transferred over to PC or Mac without a singe. iPhone is connectible by Bluetooth.

Not iPod, iPhone! But iPhone has an iPod!

iPhone functions as an iPod as well. Users just need to tap on their choice of song or video to select. The 3.5 inch screen acts as a touch screen so users can listen to music with just a few taps of their finger. The wide screen allows users to view their play list and folders easily. The brilliant screen is perfect for users to watch their favourite videos and view photos on the go. iPhone is compatible with both PC and Mac.

Surf up with iPhone

Enough of tiny text size and difficult to navigate web browsers on mobile devices. iPhone boasts a powerful HTML email client that multi-tasks. iPhone can receive from most POP3 or IMAP mail services such as Apple .Mac mail and Gmail. Photos and graphics are displayed as per normal within the text. Users can download their mail while they are surfing other sites. Yahoo! Mail has also thrown in a IMAP service that pushes new emails to iPhones.

The best part would be that users surf the internet using a version of the award-winning Apple Safari browser. This browser was designed to let users view web pages how they were designed to be seen, with zoom functions at just the tap of a finger.

With iPhone, Apple has started a new revolution.
